This outdoor portrait photography workshop is offered by Karen McBride and aims to help you improve your technique in taking pictures of people outdoors.
Karen often takes photos of musicians and other artists in outdoor locations, whether in Manchester city centre and further afield.
Some of her outdoor portrait photography of musicians been used on album covers, in publicity material and in merchandise.
She has an intuitive sense of how to incorporate the artist into an appropriate background, often by chance and on the spur of the moment.
One of the most valuable things about working with a photographer is that you gain an insight into how their mind works and how they see things. No one photographer’s vision is either right or wrong, and no two can ever be exactly the same.
By gaining a window into the creative mind of one of the most innovative and well-respected music photographers, it should help you to unlock your own creative possibilities and help you to, as we always like to say, to move on up to a higher level of creativity and success.
Karen won’t talk about aperture, shutter speeds and ISO. She will assume you will already be conversant with all this. If you aren’t, then not come on a walking tour or book some one to one tuition with Aidan O’Rourke.
You will get to photograph someone, possibly a young musician or other artist who is open to being photographed by students – not unlike a hairdressing model! You can use your own camera and may get to try out whatever camera Karen is using on the day.
Sessions take place in Manchester once a month and tend to get booked up fairly quickly.
